Rowdy the Cowboy

When Rowdy was a young child his parents took him on a cattle drive through Texas and into Southwest Louisiana. When they stopped in Lake Charles, Rowdy immediately felt at home. Growing up Rowdy started to hang out on campus at McNeese to make friends. He decided to try out for some of the sports teams. Unfortunately, he was never good enough to make any of the teams. With no other option he decided to try out for the spirit team. Needless to say, Rowdy found his niche as the head cheerleader for McNeese, and the rest is history.

Vic the Demon

Big Red

Being a mascot for Lamar University is truly an honor. It gives “Big Red” the opportunity to represent both Lamar University and the Golden Triangle. He is not only at games cheering on our team and pumping up the crowd, but he is also very active throughout the community.

The life of a Lamar mascot is very exciting; it’s like magic, because once the suit is on, the audience treats you like a real character, knowing that they will be entertained. In conclusion, the best part of being a mascot is bringing a smile to someone’s face. It’s truly a joy and honor.
